Three Top Tier Activities To Do In Jersey For Tourists

Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands, is situated between England and France, making it a popular destination for tourists from the mainland of the United Kingdom. In fact, last year (2023), 374,000 visitors from the UK came to Jersey, spending a total of £234 million on the island.

Known for its beaches, cliffside walking trails, inland valleys, and historic castles, Jersey is known for blending the best of both British and French culture. Today we are going to take a look at the best things to see and do that are on offer on this idyllic island.

Jersey Race Club

For a fun-filled day out, The CoinShares Racecourse at Les Landes offers a great option for people visiting the island. Located in the stunning coastal area of Grosnez in the northwest of Jersey, the racecourse provides spectacular, uninterrupted views of Grosnez Castle and the neighbouring islands of Guernsey, Sark, and Herm. The locals on the island love to have a flutter in fact According to new data from iGaming experts Kongebonus, Jersey has the second-highest rate of interest in online gambling across Europe, so I am certain the locals will take advantage of a banger casino bonus from time to time.

During the summer months, the racecourse hosts nine race meetings, with modern viewing facilities, on-course bookies, and a Tote system run by the on-course club. Visitors can enjoy the public bar, and various food outlets, or opt to bring a picnic. Due to potential poor network connections, it’s recommended to bring cash as a backup for payments.

Jersey Seafaris Boat Tour

Our next suggestion would be to take a boat tour. This is a brilliant way to see the island and is a great activity for the kids too as they will love being ferried around on the water and taking in the sites.

Jersey Seafaris are probably the best tour operator on the island and have consistently good reviews online. All Seafari boats are fully certified by the Maritime Coastguard Agency, with permission to operate within Category 4 waters, allowing them to venture up to 20 miles from a safe haven. Navigating the notoriously challenging waters of the Channel Islands requires reliable and top-quality vessels, and Jersey Seafaris take pride in providing the very best for their customers. The fleet is regularly updated and improved to ensure that each RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) is in immaculate condition and equipped with the latest cutting-edge technology. This focus on quality ensures that passengers can enjoy a safe and comfortable journey through the unpredictable sea conditions.

La Mare Wine Estate – La Rue de la Hougue Mauger, St Mary, Jersey JE3 3BA, Jersey

Last but certainly not least we would have to suggest a trip to the La Mare wine estate. Located in the countryside of St. Mary, just under 30 minutes from the lively town centre, La Mare Wine Estate offers tours of its wonderful estate (and of course some samples of their lovely wines too).

The estate’s main building, Elms Farm, was constructed by the De Gruchy family in 1797, originally serving as an apple orchard. After falling into disrepair, the Blayney family restored the farm in 1968. By 1972, the first vine was planted, transforming La Mare into a six-acre vineyard, distillery, and sought-after tourist destination. Today, the estate produces a wide range of Jersey products, from preserves and handcrafted confectionery of course their legendary selection of wines, ales, ciders, liqueurs, and spirits. Best of all kids under 10 have free entry so you can take them too, even though this trip is really more for mum and dad they will still have a great time here as the estate has lots to offer.
